Snow for the Holidays

Lived in California, where the weather’s always nice
Spent time in New England, pretty but there’s too much ice.
Been high in the Rockies, kind of hard to breathe,
Born in New York City, I couldn’t wait to leave
But I missed the snow, I hope it snows
Fall through the night, snowfall so quiet
Snow while I sleep, snowfall so deep, Covers the earth, fresh as rebirth
No matter what you believe, hope it snows on your holiday eve
Sit by the fire, wish for snow. Give us snow.

Cover the mountains, close the passes if you will
Have a hot rum toddy, but take some time to chill
Pull out your mittens, unwind your old wool scarf
Crunch the new white snowfall, throw snowballs in the dark
Give us snow, let it snow.
Fall through the night, snowfall so white
Snow while I sleep, snowfall so deep, Covers the ground, doesn’t make a sound
No matter what you believe, hope it snows on your holiday eve
Sit by the fire, wish for snow. Let it snow.

Have a swell old solstice, Saturnalia too
Very merry Christmas, happy Chanukah to the Jews
Perhaps you like Kwanzaa, or a month of Ramadan,
Oh yeah, happy new year; but the holidays still not gone
The day of the three kings, and what the new year brings
No matter what you believe, hope it snows on your holiday eve
Gift from the heavens, pray for snow, wish for snow, let it snow.
